Allseas to work with Veolia-Peterson on North Sea decommissioning

Allseas has contracted Veolia-Peterson to provide dismantlement and disposal services for a single-lift decommissioning project.

The offshore heavy lift and pipelay contractor has signed an engineer, prepare, remove and dispose (EPRD) agreement to remove and deliver the accommodation, drilling and production topsides, weighing around 12,600 tonnes, from a platform in the northern North Sea. The contract includes an option for jacket removal.

Veolia-Peterson, a joint venture comprising Veolia ES UK and Peterson UK, will dismantle and dispose of the topsides at the Dales Voe site in Shetland in 2020, with preparation work planned to start in 2019. Completed by Lerwick Port Authority in 2016, the quay infrastrucutre was designed with single-lift operations in mind and can accommodate loads of up to 60 tonnes per m2.

Peterson decommissioning manager James Johnson said “We have been in discussion with Allseas on single-lift since concept stage and it’s fantastic to see this work coming to fruition with this prestigious contract award; hopefully the first of many single-lifts for Veolia-Peterson at our new Dales Voe facility.”
