Jan De Nul’s newest installation vessel renamed Taillevent

Jan De Nul Group has named its newest installation vessel Taillevent in a ceremony at the port of Ostend in Belgium.

The DP2-class jack-up heavy maintenance and construction vessel was built in 2011. It measures 138.55 m in length by 40.8 m in breadth with an operational draft of 5.22 m and a dwt of 6,000.

Taillevent’s main crane has a lifting capacity of 1,000 tonnes at 25 m and its six 73.27 m Gusto MSC Hydraulic legs allow it to operate in water depths up to 40 m.

The vessel was designed for transporting and installing wind turbines but Jan De Nul also promotes its use in other offshore areas including the oil and gas sector.

Acquired in July 2018 from MPI Offshore, a subsidiary of Dutch offshore services company Vroon, Tailleventwas previously known as MPI Discovery.

The naming was carried out by Pauline Stassijns, granddaughter of Jan De Nul Group’s director Dirk De Nul.
