Fueltrax releases fifth generation of Fuelnet software

An updated version of the Fuelnet fuel use tracking software has added weather data collection, tracking, storage and processing tools.

Marine data analytics and software developers Fueltrax and parent company Nautical Control Solutions say the system time stamps the weather data and links it with GPS or AIS geotracking data.

Fueltrax systems monitor, measure and report fuel consumption in real-time. They send the data, GPS-stamped, via satellite to the Fuelnet online data repository, where it is archived for customers. NCS sales director James Slaughter told this publication in 2016 that the company deploys its own transmission antennas on vessels and has access to its own L-band satellite coverage to ensure the data transfer is not competing with other satellite communications requirements. He said FuelTrax was deployed on around 300 vessels worldwide at that time.

Workboat and offshore vessel owners have been installing fuel measurement sensors and remote monitoring services to compete for business from oil majors such as BP and ExxonMobil.

The NCS FuelTrax data collection system can be universally applied to any vessel and fleet of vessels, however. Data collection is standardised and neutral with respect to the type of fuel being consumed, the type of engine and the vessel.
