Norwegian OSV operator Solstad Offshore has announced a new contract and exercise of an option for an existing contract, both for construction support vessels (CSVs).
The new contract is for Normand Jarstein with Haugesund, Norway-based DeepOcean, a subsea services firm. DeepOcean will operate two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) from the vessel, which will be used to support its projects within the offshore oil and gas and renewables sectors.
Rever Offshore, previously known as Bibby Offshore, have declared the 2019 option to extend their charter of Normand Clipper. The contract will commence between 15 March and 15 April, and has a minimum period of 120 days firm.
Built in 2014 by Kleven Verft, Normand Jarstein measures 117.35 m in length by 22 m in breadth with a dwt of 6,674. It has a cargo deck area of 1230 m2, a main crane with a safe working load (SWL) of 250 tonnes and two 5-tonne SWL fixed deck cranes. The propulsion package comprises five 2,526 kW engines, one 1,785 kW engine, two 2,000 bhp bow thrusters and one 1,600 bhp azimuthing thruster, also mounted in the bow making for a total bhp of 17,232.
Normand Clipper was built in 2001, also by Kleven Verft. It measures 128 min length by 27 m in breadth and has a dwt of 9,976. The cargo deck area is 1,500 m2 and the vessel carries a main crane with a SWL of 250 tonnes and one 2-tonne deck crane. The propulsion package comprises two 4,320 kW engines, two 3,840 kW engines, two 2,011 bow thrusters, two 1,609 bhp stern thrusters and one azimuthing bow-mounted 2,011 bhp thruster, giving a total bhp of 22,195.
